The core4 Team
Alex
When not race directing or scouting out new trails, Alex is loving life in his home state of Iowa with family and friends. His vision for core4 provides the opportunity for people to engage with each other and to celebrate their community while recreating in a landscape he loves while supporting local cycling initiatives and advocacy partnerships. Alex is super excited to actuate the core4 experience. “Is this my event? Hell no. It’s everybody’s!”
Liz
Flashback 20-some years ago and you’ll find Liz right where she is today… riding bikes in Iowa City! Born and raised here, Liz is deeply rooted in the local cycling scene. What started as an obsession with paved road pounding and townie tootling has quickly turned into much more. Now, more often than not, you’ll find Liz grinding on the gravel roads alongside her fellow Gravel Scouts or shredding some of the local singletrack. Liz is the brains behind Bike Iowa City, where she helps build up the local cycling culture and amplify the message of Bike Iowa City as the Midwest’s premier cycling destination for adventurepreneurs, retirees, and everyone in between.
Nate
No surface untouched. He means that. Nate’s knowledge of the hidden byways and secluded secrets of Iowa’s backcountry is unsurpassed. As route aficionado at core4, he promises to take you on twists and turns through the backroads and beyond, force you to your limit then leave you begging for more. Nate is a local racer extraordinaire, claiming many victories and race records in endurance gravel and mtb events, as well as throwing down on the local cross country and cyclocross circuits. core4 crowned him KOM to create a ride of crushing mixed media greatness!
Rachael
She took one photo at the Rule of 3 starting line of Andy and Alex and somehow got hooked into the underworld of mullet cuts, mustaches, and all the digital madness behind the tires. She stays mostly behind the scenes on the core4 computer designing and refining until game day when she surfaces for tattoos + playlists. She loves seeing the enthusiasm this community brings to this event.
Andy
Trying not to grow up, living in the dirt, and relishing a pure community gathering, if you ask Andy where he is from he’ll say “my van”. We still aren’t sure why we let him be on the team, but he asked and we said yes. He currently is the co-founder and director of Rule of Three, amongst thousands of other things he’s dug his hands into.
